Sun Moon Lake (Chinese: 日月潭; pinyin: Rìyuètán; Wade–Giles: Jih4-yüeh4-t'an2; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Ji̍t-goa̍t-thâm; Zintun in the Thao language) is the largest body of water in Taiwan as well as a tourist attraction. Situated in Yuchi, Nantou, the area around the Sun Moon Lake is home to the Thao tribe, one of aboriginal tribes in Taiwan.[1] Sun Moon Lake surrounds a tiny island called Lalu.[2] The east side of the lake resembles a sun while the west side resembles a moon, hence the name.[3]
People said: “The beauty of Taiwan is in Nantou”, so the pearl of Nantou county is the Sun Moon Lake. The eight-hundred-hectare lake with vast expanse is surrounded by mountains. This scene reflects on water and brings a fully green sight. The brilliant rising sun and charming sunset glow appear in the day time, the tender moonlight shines in the night time. Accompanied by the fascinating mountains and the affectionate green water, the sunlight and moonlight here are different from other sights. Flowers bloom on Sun Moon Lake’s side, various fishes swim under the water, furthermore, visitors and pleasure-boats sail on the surface and the fishermen sing their songs. People will not only relax themselves by visiting the Sun Moon Lake, but also enjoy the magnificent landscape and dreamy scenery

Wenwu Temple is located at the shoulder of mountain where is on the north of Sun Moon Lake. It was built in 1938. People worried the water of Sun Moon Lake might cover Longfeng Temple and Ihuatang of Shuishotsun, they built Wenwu Temple. The Wenwu Temple is 2 (Longfeng Temple and Ihuatang) in 1.
